This fall, Tara Lowczys will begin her eleventh year teaching. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Teaching and Learning. Tara is currently working on completing her doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Her dissertation focuses on increasing reading achievement through reciprocal teaching.
The vast majority of Tara’s time teaching has been spent working with underprivileged students in the inner city and her experiences have had a profound impact on her life and teaching practices. Each new experience with a child and their family has been an opportunity to grow and finesse her instruction.
During her decade of service to students, Tara has been a mentor to novice teachers in her school. Through her mentorship, she has provided the support to other educators to help strengthen the educational and professional skills of her colleagues, helping ensure that students are receiving quality instruction.
Tara’s involvement in The Giving Closet Project stems from a long-held desire to have a bigger impact on students in need. She looks forward to building pillars of hope within schools and communities through philanthropy.
